Baker's Dozen

30.00

In this still-life, the artist decided to illustrate some of the colonial implements and ingredients used in creating delightful baked goods.

Significantly, the term "baker's dozen" is represented by the 13 eggs in the wooden bowl.

It is derived from the Baker's practice of allegedly adding one extra item to each dozen, to avoid any penalties for short measure.
