Ash Lawn Tea

30.00

In this painting, the artist wished to capture one aspect of the quiet dignity of the home, that of the lustrous silver tea service used by Monroe's wife, Elizabeth, for entertaining guests.

Ash Lawn-Highland was the estate of past president James Monroe. It lies in the mountains outside of Charlottesville, Virginia, exhibiting the atmosphere of an early 19th century tobacco plantation.
